The two sanctioning forms below provide the ability to sanction just a single tournament at a time or to sanction multiple tournaments that will all be hosted in the same area and with the same imagery at once. Lightspeed teams who will be regularly hosting tournaments throughout the year are encouraged to use the series form to submit their tournament plans for the whole year at once.
Please make a copy of this page and use it to create your registration page. It is a Google Sheet that will allow you to share a roster, tournament schedule, staff, and tournament information easily with us and with your competitors. More instructions are provided at the link.
BENEFITS OF A SANCTIONED EVENT
Lightspeed Saber wants to make sure that you’re receiving value from your membership in the league. In return for requesting your event:
Competitors may advance in rank and qualify for higher level tournaments (they must be paying league members)
Your tournament will be promoted in all of Lightspeed’s social media channels
Lightspeed can generate promotional art for your event upon request
The event, its staff, and its competitors will be fully insured (assuming all rules and requirements are followed)
FEE
Dependent on tournament size, whether Lightspeed Saber will host a registration page for you, and other factors. On average $1-4 per competitor. Subject to change.
ELIGIBILITY
Tournaments must fit the following criteria for eligibility:
All Lightspeed Saber safety rules must be followed, especially equipment standards
All staff and competitors must, at a minimum, have signed the online Lightspeed Saber liability waiver and appearance release form. Competitors do NOT need to be paying Lightspeed Saber League members.
Minimum of 5 competitors
You do NOT have to be recognized Lightspeed Saber base to hold a tournament.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In order for the tournament to be properly entered into data, careful records must be kept. Lightspeed Saber will not be able to calculate the tournament’s value nor your fencers’ performance without the following:
Fencer win/loss data (who beat whom)
Fencer point spreads (by how much?)
In addition, the tournament must be evenly or randomly seeded to ensure fair play for all competitors.

SAMPLE MARKETING IMAGE
Your tournament should have a main marketing image that states the name of the tournament, when and where it is held, and how to register. Please also include a copy with no text. Example:
This doesn’t have to be fancy! It can just be a photograph or stock art.
